Abstract:

This study aims to study the understanding of the candidates for social information teachers of the sciences, the so-called sciences differences. In the research, a cut-through scan type has been used from visual scan models. The research was carried out with teachers candidates who studied in the field of social information education of a state university located in the Anatolian region during the spring period of the 2017-2018 academic year. 323 teachers have participated in this study, which aims to determine the understanding of the candidates for social information teachers of the science, the so-called-scientific distinction and to study according to the various variables. In the study, the original was developed by Oothoudt (2008) and used by the scale adapted to Turkish by Çetinkaya-Kirman, Lightning-Laçin and Çalışkan (2013) . According to the analysis of the data obtained, it has been found that many of the questions about the subject, source and method of scientific knowledge of social information teachers candidates are confused. Men’s teachers’ candidates’ scores are also higher than women’s teachers’ candidates’ ‘known level of knowledge about science’. In addition, it has also been found that social information teachers candidates do not agree to the opinion that scientific research takes place through simple experiments and observations. The findings were made in the light of the recommendations.
