So many results that aren't mine?

The Effect Of Project Competition On Student’s Attitudes Towards Science and Technology Lesson and The Teacher View

The aim of study is to determine the students’ Science and Technology related views and attitudes of the students attending to “Primary School (6th, 7th, 8thgrades) Math- ematic and Science Project competition” from Science department, in Aegean Region pilot provinces (Izmir, Manisa, Muğla). With this aim the answers were searched for questions whether there is a relation among student attitudes and gender, Science and Technology les- son grades, the factories in attendance to Project Competition, the frequency of testing in Science and Technology laboratory, the quality of school they attended to project from and classroom levels. Likert type questionnaire including 16 items has been carried out in order to determine Science and Technology related attitudes of the students attended to project com- petition. The reliability coefficient of attitude measure (Cronbach-alpha) has been counted as 0.87. Moreover, one of questions is structured and 4 of them are open ended, totally 5 ques- tions has been asked regarding demographic characteristics. The demographic features of students who responded to the questionnaire have been determined by four questions. The data have been analyzed in SPSS 11.0 packet program. Analysis results have been interpreted and suggestions have been provided. According to analysis results, the Science and Technol- ogy lesson related attitudes of 6thgrade students have been found higher than seventh and eighth grade students, but a significant statistical difference could not be found. The Science and Technology lesson related attitudes of female students attending to project studies have been counted higher than attitudes of male students and a significant difference has been de- termined in the favour of female student’s. According to the teacher’s view, it has been re- sulted that students, who attended to project competition, have improved positive attitudes toward Science and Technology lesson.
