Abstract:

This research study aims to examine the loneliness levels of university students in terms of various variables and determine the relationship between their loneliness and alienation levels. The study group is selected through convenience sample technique and consists of 403 students (226 girls, 177 boys) studying at Inonu University during the 20132014 academic year. In the study, UCLA Loneliness Scale, Dean Alienation Scale and Personal Information Forms were used as data collection tools. In the data analysis part regarding the examination of loneliness levels of university students in terms of various variables, t-test was used for the comparison of two groups and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) techniques were used for the comparison of more groups.
