Yirmi yıl gibi kısa bir zaman dilimindeki yazı faaliyetleriyle Türk modern hikâye geleneğinde haklı bir yer edinen Ömer Seyfettin, yaşadığı devrin meselelerine duyarsız kalmaz. Hem hikâyelerinde hem de diğer tür yazılarında, Türk milletinin özellikle eğitimle kalkınacağını düşünerek, bu konuda çeşitli fikirler sunar. Modernlik karşıtı olmayan Büyük Türkçü, milletin hayrına olan yeniliklerin yine milletin öz karakterine uygunluğunu da arayarak, belli bir ölçü oluşturur. Bu bakışla hareket ederek özellikle 1908’den sonra İttihat ve Terakki yönetiminin desteklediği bir dizi eğitim modelini, Türk insanına sunulan yeni tarz uygulamaları takip eder. İyi bir gözlemci ve tenkitçi kabiliyetine sahip olan Ömer Seyfettin, Türk milletine has olanla taklitçi, yüzeysel kalanı sade ve etkili Türkçesiyle eleştirir. Bu eleştirinin yanında, eğitime ilişkin kendi bilgi ve düşüncelerini de paylaşır. Çalışmanın kapsamında Ömer Seyfettin’in hikâye ve nesirleri ele alınmış, bu türlerde ise doğrudan eğitim ve eğitimin ana unsurları olan okul, sınıf, öğretmen, yabancı dil öğrenimi, Türkçenin yabancı diller karşısında eğitim ortamlarındaki hâli gibi unsurlar üzerinde durulmuştur. Belirlenen ögeler devrin gerçeklikleriyle birlikte sunularak, Ömer Seyfettin’in eğitime dair görüşleri tespit edilmiş, bugüne kadar yapılmış çoğu çalışmada eksik bırakılan sosyal zemin ve tarihî şartlarla eserlerde söz konusu edilen eğitim unsurları bir arada sunulmuştur.

Omer Seyfettin, who has taken a right place in the tradition of Turkish modern history with his writing activities in a short period of time for twenty years, is not sensitive to the issues of the era in which he lived. In both his stories and other kinds of writings, he offers various ideas about this, considering that the Turkish people will develop especially with education. The Great Turkish, which is not anti-modern, creates a certain measure by seeking the suitability of the innovations for the good of the nation again to the character of the nation. Moving with this view, it follows a series of educational models supported by the Alliance and Terakki administration, especially after 1908, the new style of practices presented to the Turkish people. Omer Seyfettin, who has a good observer and the talent of observation, criticizes the imitating, superficial rest with his simple and effective Turkish. In addition to this criticism, he also shares his own knowledge and opinions about education. In the framework of the study, the story and generations of Omer Seyfettin have been addressed, and in these species the main elements of direct education and education, schools, classes, teachers, foreign language learning, the state of Turkish in the educational environments against foreign languages, have been focused on elements such as the state of Turkish in the educational environments. Specificated subjects are presented together with the realities of the era, the opinions of Omar Seyfettin on education have been identified, the majority of the studies that have been done so far have been missed in the social background and the historical conditions presented together the educational elements referred to in the works.
