Abstract:

In this study, students studied the perception of self-sufficiency and internet addiction and the relationship between the perception of self-sufficiency and internet addiction between gender, age, class level, department, parent education status, family income status dimensions. Relational scan model was used in the study. The sample of the study is made by 371 students studying in the professional high schools associated with the Tuzla Provincial National Education Directorate of Istanbul. The data collection tools used in the framework of the research are the Internet Addiction Test and Information Technologies Self-Capacity Perception Scale. With the obtained data, the relationship between the student’s computer technology self-sufficiency perception and internet addiction has been studied in terms of gender, age, class level, department, education status of the family, income status of the family. Analysis of data has found that the levels of internet addiction of students are high but the level of computer technology self-sufficiency perceptions is low that will make significant differences. The conclusion has been made that computer technology is a middle-level relationship between self-capability perception and internet addictions. The conclusion is that there is no significant difference between the perceptions of self-sufficiency of students and the status of gender and father education; there is a significant difference between age, class level, department, mother education status and income status. The conclusion is that there is a significant difference between the internet addiction and the students’ departments. The sample age group to be taken on the basis of internet addiction studies should be widespread.
