Abstract:

In this study it was aimed to examine the academic studies in relation to right to education in Turkey. In the study, by using systematic review methodology, the databases of YÖK National Thesis Center, TR Index and Dergi Park were searched over the study titles between 2000-2021. Upon reviews, 16 studies were included in this study. These studies were examined according to their types, research designs, participants, aims, results and implications. According to the findings of the research, there are problems especially for girls and individuals from families with low socioeconomic status, and children with disabilities, working, in prison and refugee children in benefitting their right to education. In addition, some minorities' benefitting of the right to education in the mother tongue is among these problems. In line with these results, it was suggested that the state that has primary responsibility in ensuring the right to education, should fulfill its national and international obligations regarding the right to education and engage in an effort to address the problem areas related to the use of the right to education. It has also been suggested for further empirical studies due to scarcity studies regarding the right to education in Turkey.
