Abstract:

This study is an imaginary study conducted with the aim of determining the professional skills of body education teachers, the teaching methods they use and the problems encountered in the application of these methods. The study was conducted with 700 teachings in the second period of the 2011-2012 academic year, which were employed in schools associated with the Ministry of Education and identified by random sampling method. 503 of the teachers involved in the study (71.9%) are men and 197 (28.1%) are women. 289 of the teachers (41.3%) are in primary education, and 411 (58.7%) are in high school. In the research, the researcher developed and used 27 material measurement tools consisting of demographic information, professional skills, using teaching methods related empty filling and 5 liquid type questions. According to the findings, teachers have the ability to have sufficient knowledge about the profession and to do their profession with pleasure, to consider the development of students during the course, to make pre-preparation with regard to the course, to be able to perform the processing stages of the course, to help students to fix their deficiencies, to receive sufficient special teaching lessons in the department where they are graduated, to be sufficient knowledge level when choosing the special teaching method to use, to respond to questions such as efficient teaching processing during the course, always and often with options. Teachers often report that they are doing a student-centered course and that they find the course time partially sufficient. According to the circumstances of teaching the teachers who participate in the study, they prefer much: equal, command and practice methods; they prefer little: student design, guided invention and self-learning methods; effective methods: practice and self-control methods; easy methods: command, exercise and equal methods; and the methods that attract the interest of the students, they have much as command, practice and equal study methods. The teachers have trouble giving answers, such as the lack of knowledge of the teacher, the lack of the appropriate class environment, the processing of the teachers-centered lessons, the lack of the lessons hours, the excess of non-class activities, the student does not want, the level of the student in the school in which the task is low. As a result, the teaching methods used by the teachers of body training are commands, exercises and accompanying methods, and it can be said that the teachers use the specific teaching methods sufficiently in classes.
