Abstract:

This study was carried out with the aim of identifying the living weights of the Church cows of different ages and some other body characteristics and determining the gender effect on these characteristics. In the study, a total of 201 head goats (34 head men and 167 head women) were used in the Kilis cottage of two growers in the central district of Kilis. For men, the overall average of living weight, body length, sidago height, breast width, back height, thin height, chest surround, chest depth, ear length and front ring surround is 59.68±3.64 kg, 74.07±1.55 cm, 76.24±1.49 cm, 21.57±0.55 cm, 72.29±1.29 cm, 73.22±1.24 cm, 95.50±2.06 cm, 31.99±0.68 cm, 30.79±0.53 and 10.88±0.26 cm; for women is 41.43±0.70 kg, 69.75±0.48 cm, 69.06±0.38 cm, 20.81±0. It was found at 20 cm, 67.45±0.44 cm, 68.80±0.37 cm, 86.85±0.55 cm, 30.21±0.23 cm, 29.92±0.22 cm and 9.00±0.06 cm. Comparing the general average of these characteristics according to gender, the difference between the general average of other characteristics except the breadth of the chest and the length of the ear (P>0.05) was significant (P<0.01). Furthermore, the difference between the average of all these characteristics in one-year-old cows was not significant (P>0.05), while in subsequent cows the difference between the average of other characteristics except the length of the ear and the width of the chest was significant (P<0.01). Of all these results, the result is that the sex effect is important on the body characteristics of the Cilis sheep, and other body characteristics other than the breadth of the chest and the length of the ear; however, the result is that this effect occurs after a age (3 years except the bread depth). In addition, the relationship between the body’s other characteristics other than the living weight and the back height (r=0.10, P>0.05) was also positive (r=0.44 to 0.89) and statistically important (P<0.01). These findings can be derived from the conclusion that other body dimensions associated with high body weight can be used for indirect selection in the healing studies in goats.
