Abstract:

The concept of health concern, defined for the first time by Salkovskis and Warwick (1986) is that a person has a belief that he is or will be a serious disease due to the misinterpretation of the somatic symptoms and that he is excessively concerned about health. This study is designed to determine the levels of health concerns of a state university students. Salkovskis and his colleagues (2002) developed and adapted to Turkish by Aydemir and his colleagues (2013) on the measurement of the health concern levels of students at the University of Süleyman Demirel. The study took place on 353 participants who were students at a state university. There has been no meaningful relationship between the age of the students, their monthly income, their housing status, their parents' occupational status, their department and classroom and their health concern levels. The level of health concern and the overall health status that students give to them, the educational status of their fathers, their mothers' occupational and educational status have been found to have a meaningful relationship. Women’s health concerns are higher than men’s health concerns. According to the results of the study, 53.8% of students have low health concern levels and 47.2% have high health concern levels.
