Bu araştırmanın amacı, işbirlikli öğrenmenin yabancı dil öğretimindeki önemine ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma genel tarama modelindedir. Araştırmanın evrenini Van il merkezindeki ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim okullarında görev yapan 146 İngilizce öğretmeni, örneklemini ise bu öğretmenler arasından amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 77 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri Batdı (2013) tarafından geliştirilen işbirlikli öğrenme yönteminin dil öğretimindeki önemine ilişkin anket kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, işbirlikli öğrenmenin öğrencileri etkileşim ve iletişime yönlendirdiği ve öğrencilerin sosyal gelişimine katkıda bulunduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrenme üzerinde önemli etkisi olduğu belirlenen işbirlikli öğrenme yönteminin yabancı dil öğretiminde daha yaygın ve öğretim programının bir parçası olarak kullanılması önerilmiştir.
The aim of this study is to determine teachers’ views about the significance of cooperative learning in foreign language teaching. The study is general screening model. The population of the study is 146 English teachers working at primary, secondary and high schools of Van during 2012-2013 academic year and the sample is composed of 77 teachers chosen by purposeful sampling method. Survey data was collected with a questionnaire about the significance of cooperative learning method on foreign language teaching, which was developed by Batdı (2013). At the consequence of the study, it was determined that cooperative learning could direct students to interaction and communication, and could provide them social development. It was suggested that cooperative learning which had important influence on learning should be used widespread as a part of foreign language teaching.
