Abstract:

It is necessary to have a valid aircraft maintenance personnel license in accordance with national or international regulations in order to carry out maintenance to ensure the airworthiness of aircraft or aircraft components. There are many different types of aircraft being produced according to manufacturers, sizes, engine types and flight characteristics. Some of the different types of aircraft appear to be same, but differ in design or technology in detail. Maintenance personnel having aircraft maintenance license must also have aircraft type rating of particular aircraft on his license to authorization of this aircraft type. Maintenance training on specific aircraft types determined by aviation regulations consist of theoretical and practice training. Theoretical training measured by test exam, practical training measured by practical assessment. In aircraft maintenance type training, aircraft system functions grouped subjects are discussed at three levels from simple to complex in main headings in the predetermined period of time, in accordance with requirements of national and international regulatory issues. Trainees take the theoretical exam at the end of training period. At least one question is asked per hour of the course in the theoretical examination. When preparing the examination booklet, the questions should be selected in a balanced manner according to the levels in all the sections and the course hours. Thus, the same rate of question should be asked for subjects according to their lesson hours discussed and levels. At the end of theoretical examination, each asked question must be evaluated by analyzing examination results. Training needs analysis must be updated, questions that are determined to be problematic should be removed from the questionnaire or corrected. Trainees entering the examination should be more successful in the case of low pre-determined difficulty levels, and success levels should be expected to decrease as the level of difficulty increases. In this study, the possibility of using the item analysis method in evaluating the aircraft maintenance type training theoretical examinations was investigated. According to the item analysis results; item difficulty, item discrimination of the difficulty level pre-determined questions were analyzed.
