Abstract:

The historical novel, which takes its topic from important figures in history and history, instead of a history book presenting the historical events to the reader with a single-level narrative, describes the background culture of events, the impact of time and space on events and characters in an aesthetic language in detail. Therefore, historical novels become an important tool in history learning. Alexander Pala, a Turkish novelist of the last period, figured his novels about historical events and personalities. The writer gives historical events in his novels with a fiction according to the chronological ranking, trying to reflect the psychological conditions of the characters in front of the events. The author’s historic novel “Shah and the Sultan”, “Od”, “Legend: A Barbaros Novel” has been published. The novel "Od", one of the author's historic novels, is based on the life of the famous Turkish thinker Yunus Emre. The novel translates the social, military, political and economic background of the revolution in which Yunus lived, while the spiritual conflicts in which Yunus lived in the process of becoming "Our Yunus" are also included. In this study, Alexander Pala's "Od" novel will be studied in terms of structure and spectacular fiction, the reflections of the different aspects of historical personalities in the novel will be addressed in the light of the conditions of the period.
