Abstract:

This study aims to study the center placement system from the academic perspective of the students’ selection methods used in the sports management departments. The research method is used to collect data through the method of interview. In the selection of the study group, measurement sampling was preferred from the purpose sampling methods. In the selection of the work group, standards for both the department and the teaching staff were created. According to these criteria, in the 2018-2019 educational year, 11 of the 16 sports management departments that take the student with the central placement system, carrying the criteria of the study, were included in the study. In this context, 11 teachers have been discussed. In conversations, the seven questions semi-configured conversation form developed by researchers as a data collection tool was used and the content analysis technique was applied in data analysis. According to the research findings, in the reasons for the transition to the central placement system of participants, the negative aspects of the skill exam and the targets of attracting students more suitable for the profession are on the forefront, but after the transition to the central placement system these expectations are largely unable to be fulfilled. When the central placement system is generally assessed, the opinions referred to on its negative aspects are mostly. Among these negative views are the disadvantages of students in their practice courses, the signs of their coming to the transition to the teaching profession, and the decline in the number of women students. As a result, when the central acquisition system is assessed by the academics, it has been found that although the positive aspects of the system are mostly negative and that the expectations of the students received by the central acquisition system are not significantly satisfied.
