Abstract:

It is an assessment center component for effective and successful intervention in social work at all levels. The family holds an important place in the intervention center of the social work profession aimed at ensuring social well-being at the highest level. In the practice of social work, the family is seen as a dynamic system in which their members are constantly interacting with each other and with the whole family. In this context, the disadvantages in the interaction of the parts and sub-systems that make up a whole with each other affect the whole and therefore all the other members and sub-systems. It is possible to provide change to solve the problem of the family system only by understanding these sub-systems and their interactions with each other. In order to this comprehensive effort that begins with the pre-evaluation stage of the planned change process, it is necessary to collect, analyze and synthesize information within a multi-dimensional framework. In this process, it is necessary to identify the elements that can not only contribute to the formation of the problem but also create change and be a source of power and support in solving the problem. In this context, the position and importance of pets in the lives of humans is worth considering. However, in our country, in the field of social work, there has not been a study that directly addresses the position of pets in the context of family assessments. This study also aimed at determining the position of pets in family assessments in the context of the system approach, with an ecosentric perspective. In order to this goal, pets have been treated as a subsystem in the assessment of the family system and the position in the context has been presented by literary scan.
