Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul öğretmen ve yöneticilerinin örgütsel bağlılık düzeylerini çeşitli değişkenlere göre belirlemektir. Araştırmanın evreni ve örneklemini 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılında İzmir ili Gaziemir ilçesi sınırları içinde bulunan ortaokullarda görev yapmakta olan 401 öğretmen ve yöneticiler oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın nicel verileri Allen ve Meyer’in (1990) geliştirdiği “Örgütsel Bağlılık Ölçeği”, nitel verileri ise araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan "Öğretmen ve Yöneticilerin Örgütsel Bağlılıklarına ilişkin Görüşme Formu" aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları şu şekilde özetlenebilir: Ortaokul öğretmen ve yöneticilerinin örgütsel bağlılıkları “kararsızım” düzeyinde olmakla birlikte yöneticilerin bağlılık düzeyi öğretmenlerinkinden daha yüksektir. Hem yöneticilerde hem de öğretmenlerde en yüksek ortalamaya sahip örgütsel bağlılık boyutu “Duygusal Bağlılık”tır. “Duygusal Bağlılık” boyutunu “Normatif Bağlılık” boyutu takip etmektedir. En düşük ortalamaya sahip örgütsel bağlılık boyutu ise “Devam Bağlılığı”dır. Aynı okulda uzun süredir görev yapan öğretmen ve yöneticilerin örgütsel bağlılık düzeyleri "Devam Bağlılığı" boyutunda daha az süredir aynı okulda görev yapanların örgütsel bağlılık düzeyinden daha yüksektir. Ücretli katılımcıların örgütsel bağlılık düzeyleri "Normatif Bağlılık" boyutunda kadrolu ve norm fazlası olanlardan daha yüksektir. Görev yaptıkları okulun fiziki koşullarını yeterli bulmayan katılımcıların yalnızca “Devam Bağlılığı” boyutunda örgütsel bağlılık düzeyi diğerlerinden daha yüksek iken diğer boyutlar ve ölçek genelinde iste tersi bir durum söz konusudur. Yapılan nitel araştırma sonucunda örgütsel etkenlerin örgütsel bağlılık üzerinde kişisel etkenlerden daha belirleyici olduğu görülmüştür.
