Abstract:

Children's literature in our country has begun through translation works since the Tanzimat period and has shown rapid development in the Republic period. Children’s literature, which has evolved slowly in our country, has gained great importance, especially since the 1990s. Writers taking into account the factors such as child psychology and the characteristics of the developmental period of children have also begun to give works on this field. One of these writers, Mehmet Güler, was also known for his works for children as a "writer for three generations" (children-young-adult). With the sensitivity given by the teaching profession, he has made children’s literature a tool for children’s education, he has processed his works through the original fiction of the behavior and values he will gain to children. According to the writer, children’s literature has an important importance for children’s education in order to give children a read habit by hosting a literary pleasure, as well as to carry the values that nourish children in an educational way and thus to educate “good people”. The human values wished to be given to children in the writer's works are transmitted through covered messages, not through a didactic style. In this study, the "love value" and dimensions that came to the forefront in the stories written by Mehmet Güler towards children were discussed. According to Smile, love is the essence of all values, and therefore the foundation of all his works is based on this value. In the works of the author, the concept of love is diversified with topics such as family love (mother-child, father-child, snow-child love), joy of life, love of nature, love of animals, love of school, love of patriotic, love of mother tongue.
