Abstract:

In this study, two different programs broadcast on Turkish television and discussing their relationships with the self-righteous are discussed in the context of the reflections of the hegemonic concept of masculinity in the Turkish society. At this point, my wedding in the kitchen and Zuhal Topal and Sofrada programs have been studied by the method of feminist critical speech analysis. The critical analysis of these programs has emphasized how the male dominant society is a powerful medium of mass communication through television and how it follows a method of strengthening the male dominant ideology. Accordingly, the social gender roles that the atherical structure reveals are processed against women through these programs. That is, despite the changing Turkish social structure, women are still depicted on television in a superficial and even absurd way, and in social sense they are put to the second place. In this process, television shows are considered to be one of the most prominent ideological carriers of the current stake. Therefore, the relevant study analyzed how women's roles are presented in the context of hegemonic masculinity in television shows.
