Abstract:

The childhood period is the years in which the individual explores the environment, is willing to communicate and gains behaviors in accordance with the structure of society. Pre-school education is important for children to be educated as entrepreneurial individuals that develop their problem-solving skills, are able to easily adapt to different situations, are developed in the research direction and the sense of confidence, are able to express themselves, are able to make the right decisions. In the pre-school period, the child acquires many knowledge and skills, such as mindfulness, drawings, questioning, to solve the problems he encounters. These skills enable the child to find solutions to the difficulties he faces, and to make decisions on his own by using his knowledge and skills. The rapidly changing structure of societies makes it necessary to educate individuals who think quickly, are able to solve problems and are able to make the right decisions, and are able to take responsibility for their decisions. Therefore, the study is planned to support the decision-making skills of children aged five to six who are on pre-school education with the aim of supporting the "Determination Skills Education Program". The study is structured in a semi-experimental model of the study, which includes the Predest-Sontest-Tracking Test. The study group included a total of 40 children, including 20 tests and 20 control groups. The children in the experimental group were supported by the "Determination Skills Training Program", which includes two sessions a week for ten weeks. The data was collected with the "Decision Skills Assessment Tool-Child Form", "Decision Skills Assessment Tool-Baby Form" and "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher. The study found that children in the experiment and control group had a significant difference between their decision-making skills scores (p<,001). Children in the trial group were subjected to the durability test four weeks later, the difference between the last test and the durability test score average was not meaningful (p>,05) and the effect of the training program continued. Based on these findings, recommendations have been presented to researchers, educators and parents in order to improve pre-school children’s decision-making skills.
