Abstract:

Institutions and individuals intend to gain profits by investing in shares. Analysis methods and strategies have been developed to correctly predict the price movements that will occur in the future in order to profit on the stock market. Investing using these methods is relatively easier for institutions because there are experts in their bodies. But this process is a bit harder for individual investors. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether individual investors, without using analytical methods, are profitable if they invest with specific strategies. In this context, a twelve investment strategies have been created for individuals with low financial literacy, where the time of purchase of the stock is determined only. Using the simulation method, investments were made using timing strategies in the 2016-2017 shareholders of companies listed in BIST 30 and the investment results were studied. According to the results of the analysis, while positive profits are obtained from all strategies, appropriate timing strategies that bring too much profits to the individual investor have been determined as strategies that can be considered passive.
