Abstract:

This work was carried out at the Erzurum Remzi Sakaoğlu Science and Art Center. The aim of the study is to study the views of the highest-talent students on the course of chemistry in the OYG (Special Talent Development) and BYF (Individual Talent Awareness) training programs, which continue to the Science and Arts Center for at least one year of chemistry training. The work group is a structured written interview form that consists of eight open end questions and according to the received answers, the expectations and satisfactions for the chemistry course in the point of realizing and developing the abilities of students who continue to BILSEM have been evaluated. The study used the case study method from the quality research models, the findings obtained were analyzed by the content analysis method. When examined the forms of written interview applied to students, it was found that the girls were satisfied with the current educational situation, the expectations of the boys were above the existing educational system. Students are generally aware that the materials, tools and tools found in the chemical laboratories in the Science and Arts Centers are not enough. They pointed out that the high-talent girls find chemistry lesson hours sufficient, while the high-talent male students need to increase the lesson hours because they don’t have enough time to experiment. It seems that students in both groups agree that the chemistry course given at the Science and Arts Centers provides permanent learning. Some girls and boys in the Special Talent Development and Individual Talent Awareness Groups are not expected to see their education at the Science and Art Centers as a priority against their friends in the schools they are learning day by day. The competitive feeling for superior talented students who are aware of their own potential and defined by their characteristics beyond the group is neither in line with their personality characteristics nor with the organization purpose of BILSEM.
