Abstract:

The purpose of this research looking the attitudes of high school students towards agesim. The Sample of this descriptive study consists of 291 students. Data collection tools are; Age discrimination Attitute scale and Student Demografik Information Form. The data analyzed with SPSS for Mac 21(Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program. In the analysis of data; mean, standart deviation, minimum, maximum values, percentiles, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Anova tests were performed. According to the findings high school students generally have a positive attitude towards ageism, and there are significant differences between the age discrimination attitute scale scores and the variables of students’ gender, place of birth, place of residence, educational status of parents, and place of residence of grandparents (p<0.05). It was determined that there were no significant differences in terms of family type, mother's occupation, father's occupation, number of years lived with the elderly, and number of siblings (p>0.05). Adolescents' attitudes and the factors that determine these attitudes are important in understanding the perception of ageing as a longitudinal phenomenon.
