Abstract:

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the attitudes to sports and the perception of boredom in leisure according to some variables of students studying in sports sciences. The research group consists of 180 (75 female and 105 male) volunteer students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences in Bartın University. Personal information form, “The Leisure Boredom Scale (LBS)” and “Sport-Oriented Attitude Scale (SOAS)” was used as the data collection tool. Frequency, percentage distribution, arithmetic mean and standard deviation, t-Test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation tests were used in the analysis of the data. In the findings of the study, no significant difference was found between LBS and its sub-dimensions, and SOAS and its sub-dimensions according to the gender variable. According to the age variable, there was no significant relationship between the sub-dimensions of LBS total score averages and "living with sports" and "active sports", while a low and positive significant relationship was found in SOAS and "interest in sports" sub-dimensions. In addition, a low and positive significant relationship was found between the leisure boredom scale and Sport-Oriented Attitude Scale. Ergo, it can be said that as the content and boredom perception of the students of the faculty of sports sciences increases, their level of sport-oriented attitudes will also increase.
