Abstract:

As a result of demographic, political, and social changes in the Middle East, Asia and Africa geographics, the interest in Turkey has increased in recent years; this situation has also significantly positively affected the teaching of Turkey as a foreign language. With this effect, the increase in the quantity of the Turkish teaching units has also influenced the quantity and qualities of the teaching materials.  The vocabulary that is among the core focus for language education is directly linked to the functionality of these materials. The existence of the word used in materials and the target word lists to the target are very important in terms of the functional use of the target language. The integration of basic language skills, the competence of academic and general communication is largely related to the presence of the word used in foreign language education. Through the existence of the word, the basic language skills are achieved while the target language’s frequently used words are included in the curriculum material by instructors and publishers. In this study, the existence of the word version of the Turkish C1 lesson for Istanbul Foreigners and the reading of the book of the play was also studied using the visual scan method. The frequency distribution of the words that are commonly used in this framework, TTR, Standardise TTR, readability, distribution according to the word types, are monitored. Although the data set in the updated source has been narrow, the different words used has increased; it has been found that the word and phrase lengths are more reasonable by editing in terms of readability.
