Hemşire Adaylarının Kariyer Planlarında Yaşlı Bakım Hemşireliği ve Diğer Hemşirelik Alanlarına Yönelik Tercihlerinin Çalışma Değerleri Bağlamında İncelenmesine Yönelik Bir Araştırma

Abstract:

Yapılan çalışmada, hemşire adaylarının yaşlı bakım hemşireliği ve diğer hemşirelik alanlarına yönelik tutumları araştırılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacına uygun olarak, ilgili literatür taranarak hemşire adaylarının ilgili alanlara yönelik tutumlarını olumlu ya da olumsuz etkileyeceği düşünülen bir takım iş değerleri (kriterler) belirlenmiş ve bu kriterler analize uygun hiyerarşik yapıya dönüştürülmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul’daki kamu üniversitelerinde öğrenim gören hemşirelik öğrencileri, örneklemini ise bir kamu üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıf hemşirelik öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Çalışmanın başında, hemşirelik fakültesi öğrencilerinin özellikle yaşlı bakım hemşireliğine yönelik tutumlarının olumsuz olduğu hipotezi ile yola çıkılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda, kariyer tercihi olarak yaşlı bakım hemşireliğinin dezavantajlı olduğu iş değerleri önem derecesine göre sıralanmıştır. Anketler matematiksel bir metot olan Analitik Hiyerarşi Prosesi (AHP) ile değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında AHP yöntemi kullanılarak hemşire adaylarının yaşlı bakım hemşireliği kariyeri ile ilgili kalitatif yargıları kantitatif şekle dönüştürülmüştür. Araştırma, hemşirelik öğrencileri tarafından en fazla Ameliyathane Hemşireliği alanının tercih edildiğini ve Yaşlı Bakım Hemşireliği alanının orta sıralarda yer aldığını ortaya koymuştur. Yaşlı Bakım Hemşireliği tercih eden ve tercih etmeyen hemşirelik öğrencilerinin çalışma değerleri arasında önemli bir farklılık olmadığı bulunmuştur. Son olarak, hemşirelik öğrencileri için çalıştığı kişilerle iyi ilişkiler kurmak ve iş garantisine sahip olmak en önemli çalışma değerleri olarak belirlenmiştir.

Abstract:

In the study, the attitudes of the candidate nurses towards elderly care nursing and other nursing fields were investigated. In accordance with the purpose of the research, the relevant literature was scanned and a number of job values (criteria), which are thought to affect positively or negatively the attitudes of the nurse candidates towards the relevant fields, were determined and these criteria were transformed into a hierarchical structure suitable for the analysis. The universe of the research consists of nursing students studying at public universities in Istanbul, and the sample consists of nursing students from third and fourth classes studying at the nursing department of a public university. At the beginning of the study, it was set out with the hypothesis that nursing faculty students' attitudes towards elderly care nursing were negative. As a result of the analysis, the job values that the elderly care nursing is disadvantageous as a career choice are listed according to their importance level. The surveys were evaluated with a mathematical method Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). In terms of the study, the qualitative judgments of the nursing candidates regarding the elderly nursing career were transformed into quantitative form by using the AHP method. The research has revealed that the nursing students mostly preferred the Operating Room Nursing field and the Elderly Care Nursing field is in the middle ranks. It was found that there is no significant difference between the values of nursing students who prefer Elderly Care Nursing and those who do not prefer it. Finally, establishing good relationships with the people with whom they work and having job guarantee are determined as the most important work values for nursing students.
