Abstract:

Understanding that education holds an important place in the development of critical thinking skills that hold an important place in teaching. The main objective of this study, prepared with action from the minval, is to “definitise how and how it affects students’ critical thinking skills” to understand what they read. In the study, the knowledge and findings obtained from the conversations conducted in order to identify the thoughts of class teachers who work in the Karaman province center in order to understand the reading and identify their thoughts on the relationship between critical thinking skills. In the framework of the research, the qualitative research methods, using the semi-structured conversation technique, face-to-face interviews with 25 class teachers working in public and private schools in the Karaman province center were carried out. The information and findings obtained from the interviews with the teachers were subject to evaluation through the method of content analysis. Having in mind the basic findings of the research, in order to improve students’ critical thinking skills, students should be given more speech and their ideas should be taken into account. Furthermore, students should be felt valuable to them, students should be given a reading habit, and they should be taught to listen without prior judgment.
