Arap Baharı süreci, Sosyal ve Ekonomik nedenlere bağlı olarak Tunus’ta başlayıp kısa bir süre sonra birçok Arap ülkesine yayılmıştır. Bu süreç, Ortadoğu’nun en büyük ülkelerinden biri olan Mısır’da, ülkenin siyasi tarihinde barındırdığı ilişkilerinden dolayı diğer ülkelere göre farklı boyutlarda gelişim göstermiştir. Sosyal hareketlerin etkisiyle örgütlenen rejim muhaliflerinin protestoları sonucu uzun yıllardır ülkeyi yöneten Hüsnü Mübarek görevi bırakmak zorunda kalmıştır. 2012 yılında yapılan Cumhurbaşkanlığı seçimlerini kazanan Müslüman Kardeşler’in adayı Muhammed Mursi sadece bir yıl yönetimde kalabilmiştir. 3 Temmuz 2013 yılında ordu tarafından yapılan darbeyle Mısır’da yönetim askerlere geçmiştir. Bu süreçle birlikte uzun yıllardır demokratik bir yönetime kavuşmak isteyen Mısır halkının umutları başka bir “bahara” kalmıştır.

The Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohammed Mursi, who won the 2012 presidential election, was able to remain in the government for only one year. On July 3, 2013, the Egyptian army took over the government to the military. With this process, the hopes of the Egyptian people who have long wanted to get a democratic rule have remained another "spring".
