Hosni Mubarak, who ruled the country for many years after the protests of the regime opponents organized under the influence of social movements, had to leave duty. Muhammad Mursi, the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood who won the Presidential elections in 2012, was able to stay in power for only one year.
