Abstract:

Teaching practices, in which teacher candidates have their first professional experience and gain their teaching skills, are one of the most important experiences they will acquire during the undergraduate period. The research was conducted in order to reveal the effectiveness and efficiency of online teaching practices during the pandemic process and to examine the solution proposals produced by pre-service teachers to the problems they experienced during the implementation process. 7 pre-service teachers studying at the Social Studies Education Department of Sinop University in the 2020-2021 academic year constitute the study group of the research. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The experiences of the participants were revealed through the focus group interview. An interview form consisting of open-ended questions and developed by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. The data obtained were analyzed with the descriptive analysis method and the opinions of the pre-service teachers were included in the article with direct quotations. According to the results of the research, the most common problems experienced by the pre-service teachers during the application are the technical problems and the low participation of the students. Pre-service teachers expressed a common opinion that there should be no distance course applications in education in the following years.
