Abstract:

The Montessori method, which has been applied in many countries of the world for more than a century, is an educational approach aimed at supporting children’s development and learning from the early years with a specially prepared environment and child-centric approaches, making the child an independent individual. The study, based on the relationship between education and neuroscience, aims to explain the fundamental characteristics of the Montessori educational method with a neuroscientific perspective, and to examine the research that Montessori and neuroscience are associated with, to reveal a interdisciplinary perspective. Research is a quality research planned in the type of compilation. In the collection of data, the document analysis technique has been achieved with two scan stages. In the first survey, studies that associated neurological studies with the Montessori method found that the characteristics of the Montessori method, such as "Densitive Periods", "Created Environment", "Spiritual Training", "Re-Learning from Self", "Language-Master" and "Moving-Master" were associated with the neurology. In the second survey, Montessori and neuroscience studies explored how these characteristics were explained. Research findings have shown that the characteristics that Montessori creates about child development and learning are also supported by research findings in the field of neuroscience years later.
