The main purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a significant effect of the level of the leader-member exchange on burnout. This study was conducted on the nurses at a public and a university hospital in Sivas. In this frame the questionnaire of this study were conducted on 164 nurses who work at those hospitals. The results of the study showed that the level of leader-member exchange effects level of nurses’ burnout negatively. A high level of burnout has lots of negative effects on both nurses’ individual health status and organizational performance. Therefore, improving the level of leader-member exchange and the reduction of nurses’ burnout is benefit for both hospitals and nurses.
