Abstract:

Today, with the rapid development of technology, working conditions and environments are changing at the same pace. Attracting qualified workforce to the organization and protecting the existing workforce are among the strategic issues in order for organizations to survive and continue to develop them. For this they need a positive climate. With this climate they will create, they aim to increase the loyalty of the employee to the organization. Career development opportunities to be offered to the employees will help to protect the current workforce and to join the qualified workforce to the organization.This study was carried out to measure the effect of the climate of the organization in which the people working in the retail sector work on their career development and organizational commitment. The research was carried out by quantitative method. Data were collected with a questionnaire. Demographic information form and organizational climate scale, career development scale and organizational commitment scale were used in the questionnaire. The study was applied to 237 store employees operating in the central districts of Mersin Province. The analysis of the data was made in the statistical package program and the hypotheses were tested. As a result of the analysis, as the level of positive perception regarding the organizational climate increases, the level of positive perception and organizational commitment regarding career development also increases.
