Toksik liderlik, son zamanlarda yıkıcı liderlik türlerinden biri olarak araştırmacıların dikkatini çekmeye başlamıştır. Örgüte ve çalışanlara olumsuz etkilerde bulunan toksik liderler, hareketleriyle çalışanlarda performans kaybına, örgüt içindeki iklime ve yapıya zarar veren davranış örüntüsüne sahiptir. Bu olumsuz etkiler, çalışanların örgütsel bağlılığına da zarar vermektedir. Bu araştırmada, okullarda rastlanan toksik liderliğin öğretmenlerin örgütsel bağlılığı üzerindeki etkisi incelenmektedir. Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden kesitsel tarama modelinin kullanıldığı çalışmada, öğretmenlerin algısına göre toksik liderliğin örgütsel bağlılığa etkisi araştırılmıştır. Okul müdürlerinin toksik davranışlar sergilemesinin öğretmenlerin örgütsel bağlılığı üzerindeki etkisini araştırmak için kullanılan veri toplama aracında; öğretmenlerin demografik özellikleri için Kişisel Bilgi Formu, okul müdürlerine yönelik toksik liderlik algısı için Toksik Liderlik Ölçeği ve öğretmenlerin örgütsel bağlılığı için Örgütsel Bağlılık Ölçeği bulunmaktadır. Araştırmanın evrenini İzmir İli Menderes İlçesinde bulunan okullarda görev yapan öğretmenler, örneklemini ise Menderes İlçesinde bulunan okullarda görevli 115 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Veriler, betimsel istatistikler ve basit doğrusal regresyon analizi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda; öğretmenlerin okul müdürlerine yönelik toksik liderlik algısının “orta” düzeyde olduğu ve örgütsel bağlılık algısının “orta” düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Toksik liderliğin çıkarcılık alt boyutunun ile duygusal bağlılık üzerinde, bencillik alt boyutunun devam bağlılığı üzerinde, değer bilmezlik ve olumsuz ruhsal durum alt boyutlarının ise normatif bağlılık üzerinde negatif yönde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı etkisi olduğu belirlenmiştir.
Toxic leadership has recently begun to attract the attention of researchers as one of the destructive types of leadership. Toxic leaders who have a negative impact on the organization and employees have a pattern of behavior that has a loss of performance in their workers, damages the climate and structure within the organization. These negative effects also damage the organizational commitment of employees. This study examines the impact of toxic leadership found in schools on the organizational commitment of teachers. In the study using a cut-through scan model from the Nicel research methods, the influence of toxic leadership on organizational commitment, according to the teachers’ perception, has been studied. The data collection tool used to investigate the impact of school managers’ exposure of toxic behaviors on teachers’ organizational commitment; the Personal Information Form for teachers’ demographic characteristics, the Toxic Leadership Scale for the perception of toxic leadership to school managers, and the Organizational commitment Scale for teachers’ organizational commitment. The universe of the research is made up of teachers who work in schools located in the İzmir Menderes District, and their sample is made up of 115 teachers who work in schools located in the Menderes District. The data is evaluated with visual statistics and a simple linear regression analysis. The results of the analyses have found that teachers’ perception of toxic leadership towards school managers is at the “mediate” level and the perception of organizational commitment is at the “mediate” level. Toxic leadership has been determined to have a statistically meaningful impact on the negative direction on the subdimensional and emotional commitment, on the continuous commitment of the subdimensional of selfishness, and the subdimensional of value ignorance and negative mental condition on the normative commitment.

These negative effects also damage the organizational commitment of the employees. In this study, the effect of toxic leadership in schools on teachers' organizational commitment is examined. In the study, in which the cross-sectional survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used, the effect of toxic leadership on organizational commitment was investigated according to teachers' perceptions. In the data collection tool used to investigate the effect of school principals' toxic behaviors on teachers' organizational commitment; There are Personal Information Form for teachers' demographic characteristics, Toxic Leadership Scale for toxic leadership perception for school principals and Organizational Commitment Scale for teachers' organizational commitment. The universe of the research consists of teachers working in schools in Menderes District of İzmir Province, and the sample consists of 115 teachers working in schools in Menderes District. Data were evaluated with descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis. As a result of the analyzes made; it was determined that teachers' perception of toxic leadership towards school principals was at a "moderate" level and their perception of organizational commitment was at a "moderate" level. It has been determined that the selfishness sub-dimension of toxic leadership has a statistically significant negative effect on emotional commitment, the selfishness sub-dimension has a negative effect on continuance commitment, and the sub-dimensions of ignorance and negative mood have a negative effect on normative commitment.
