Abstract:

The archetypical criticism aimed at identifying the collective unconscious elements coded in the literary work was formed by Carl Gustav Jung. When a writer or poet calls to archetypes outside the common/collective consciousness, he can go from individuality to universality. Asaf Hâlet Çelebi, a Republican poet, writes his poems with a mythical understanding by sending Buddhism, Ancient Eastern beliefs, Tasavvuf and Turkish divan literature to the tradition. In his poems with a fairy atmosphere, he expresses his dreams living outside the consciousness by combining with the common aspects of the human soul. One of the unconscious traces in their poems is the "anima" archetype, which is defined as the female direction of the man. In this study, the poems of Asaf Hâlet Çelebi have been investigated and achieved findings of the animate archetype. As a result of the study, the animation archetype, which Jung emphasizes that each individual is outside the common/collective consciousness, has also been used effectively in the poems of Asaf Hâlet Çelebi. Thus, the poet has come to the conclusion that he has taken advantage of the archetypes, that through his poems he can raise the outside of consciousness to the level of consciousness, and that he has built the bridge from individuality to universality with the archetypes.
