Abstract:

This study aims to identify the levels of scientific literature and problem-solving skills of eighth class students and to reveal the relationship between them. In addition, it has been studied whether there is a meaningful differentiation in the problem-solving skills of students with their scientific literature levels, according to the variable of gender and school type. The examples of the study were made by eighth-class students. Research is an image-like study conducted using the relative scan model.  Research finds that students’ scientific literature levels and problem-solving skills are “mediate” and that there is a positive linear relationship between students’ scientific literature levels and problem-solving skills. The level of scientific literature of students is determined to vary significantly in favor of students who study in the private school by school type, and to vary significantly in favor of girls by gender. The level of problem-solving of students has been determined that they do not differ significantly according to the type of school, and according to gender, they differ significantly in favor of the girls students. According to the results obtained from the research, recommendations have been developed based on the factors that can lead to differences in the students' scientific literature and problem-solving skills.
