Avusturyalı yazar Stefan Zweig Almanca edebiyatın en önemli temsilcilerindir ve Türkçeye en çok çevrilen yazarlardan biridir. Farklı yayınevleri tarafından kitaplarının defalarca yeniden çevirisi yayımlanmaktadır. Yayınevleri ve çevirmenler pek çok nedenle yeniden çeviriye yönelebilir. Yeniden çeviri kararının altında hangi nedenin yattığı elbette her metin, çeviri, yayınevi ve çevirmen bağlamında kendi içinde değerlendirilmelidir. Bununla birlikle her çeviri açık ya da örtük olarak ortaya konmuş bir iddia, bir gerçekleşme amacı içerir ve hangi neden söz konusu olursa olsun, bazı çeviriler diğerlerinden ayrışabilir, okura daha özel bir okuma deneyimi yaşatabilirler. Buradaki asıl belirleyici unsur, çevirmenin biçemi ve başvurduğu tekniklerle metinde inşa ettiği kendine özgü retoriktir. Eldeki çalışmada da, Zweig’ın öykü üslubunu en güzel yansıtan eserlerinden olan Olağanüstü Bir Gece’nin üç farklı çevirmen tarafından Almancadan Türkçeye yapılmış çeviri ve yeniden çevirileri incelenecektir. Çalışmanın amacı karşılaştırma yaparak çeviride doğrular ve yanlışları izini sürmek değil, alanında uzman ve deneyimli edebiyat çevirmenleri tarafından yapılmış çevirilerde çevirmenlerin metinle nasıl diyaloğa girdiğini gösteren izleri, başka bir deyişle çevirmen retoriğini anlamaya çalışmaktır. Çalışmada yöntem olarak Antoine Berman’ın çeviri eleştirisi için önerdiği yaklaşıma başvurulmuştur. Bunun sebebi, Berman’ın yaklaşımının sadece kaynak metin erek metin arasında bir çeviri karşılaştırmasından ibaret olmaması farklı dinamikleri içinde barındıran gerçek bir çeviri işinde çevirmenlerin verdiği kararların metindeki izlerini takip etmeye uygun bir anlayışa dayanmasıdır. Ama Berman’ın yaklaşımı bir şablon olarak kullanılmamış, çevirmen retoriğinin izlerini takip etmeye uygun kısımlar incelemeye dâhil edilmiştir. Çalışmanın çeviri eleştirisinde çevirmen retoriğine odaklanan biçem araştırmalarına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
Austrian writer Stefan Zweig is the most important representative of German literature and one of the most translated writers into Turkish. The books are repeatedly translated by various publishers. The publishers and translators can redirect to translation for many reasons. The reason for which the re-translation decision lies, of course, should be assessed within itself in the context of each text, translation, publisher and translator. Together with this, each translation contains a claims made openly or covered, a purpose of realization, and whatever reason it is, some translations may be separated from others, bringing a more specific reading experience to the reader. The main determining element here is the form of translation and its own rhetoric that it builds in the text with the techniques it applies. The study will also explore the translations and re-translations made from German to Turkish by three different translators of the Extraordinary Night, one of the works that best reflect Zweig's story style. The purpose of the study is not to correct and track errors in the translation by comparing, but to try to understand the traces of how translators in the translations made by expert and experienced literary translators in the field, in other words, the translator's retory. The study referred to the approach proposed by Antoine Berman for translation criticism as a method. The reason for this is that Berman’s approach is based on a proper understanding of the traces of the decisions made by the translators in a real translation work that contains different dynamics that is not just a translation comparison of the source text between the male text. But Berman's approach was not used as a template, it was included in the study of the appropriate sections to follow the traces of the translator's retory. It is believed that the study will contribute to form research focused on translator retory in translation criticism.
