Abstract:

The acceleration and diversification of tourism movements in the world has been important in the development of alternative tourism types. In this context, tourism that supports agricultural production is a means of rural development. The economic structure in the Ardahan province, where the household income is poor, where the main resource of life is based on agricultural activities and where the unemployment rate is high, is largely based on livestock and agriculture. In particular, the increase in honey and honey production is an important resource of survival in the region. In order to create new business spaces and increase employment opportunities, breeding and honey production are important in the provision of rural development as an important agricultural activity. At the same time, the practices in this direction, combined with rural tourism, agroturism and gastronomic tourism in the framework of alternative tourism, will be important in the development of the Ardahan province. In this study, the socio-economic status of the Ardahan province and the contribution of the agriculture and honey production to the region are examined and recommended in the context of alternative tourism types.
