VII.
The VII. and XIII. Since the beginning of the century, the instability in the regions in the east and west of the Egyptian-Sham region and the fact that the Memliks made the Egyptian-Sham region a safe area by defending against external threats has been one of the main reasons for the Uleman’s turning here. In addition to the confidence and stability they provide in the region they rule, they have made the many scientific institutions they build in cities like Cairo, Dimask, Aleppo and Jerusalem and the wide possibilities they offer to Ulema, and they have made these cities the important scientific centers of the Islamic world. The rich and cosmopolitan scientific environment formed in the cities of Egypt and Damascus, where many scientists are from the east and west, has prepared the ground for the appearance of new and encyclopedic species of authors, in addition to the numerous works of authors in almost every field of Islamic sciences. This study evaluates the reasons that influenced the orientation of the ulemane to the Egyptian-Sham region during the Memlikes period and the views presented in modern literature on this subject. The study also suggested that there were three key trends that were interconnected in the scientific institutions located in Cairo, the political and cultural center of Memlikler. First, the approach of the architectural forms and corporate functions of the medrese and mosque, second, the appearance of the scientific institutions that combine the function of multiple institutions such as mosque, medrese, hankâh, bîmâristan and turbe, and finally the four fıkıh religions according to the lessons, first and foremost, the teaching of the various sciences such as the interpretation, hadith, nahiv, curate and medicine, is the representation of the scientific institutions that offer a large number of mansibes to the ulemâya.
