Abstract:

The objective of this study is to analyze the affects of demographic variables (child age, gender, number of siblings, mother education level) and maternal attitudes on children's self-regulation skills. The research was designed in the quantitative research approach, the correlational research model. The study group consists of 279 mothers. The data were collected on the internet using a questionnaire program using the 'Self-Regulation Skills Scale for 4-6 Years-Old Children' and the 'Hamel Mother Attitude Scale'. For analyzing the data, t-test, anova, and correlation analysis were used. According to the findings, there was a significant relationship between the number of siblings, maternal education level, maternal attitudes and self-regulation skills. Considering the factors affecting maternal attitude, it was found that child gender, age, number of siblings and mother's education level affected maternal attitude. No significant relationship was found between the child's gender, age, and self-regulation skills.
