Sağlık turizmi son yüzyılda üzerinde önemle durulan ve gittikçe gelişen bir alandır. Sağlık turizmi bir kişinin sağlık hizmeti almak için başka bir ülkeye gitmesi ve burada en az yirmi dört saat geçirmesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de sağlık turizmi konusunda, sağlık turizminde ilk on il içerisinde yer alan Adana ilinin SWOT analizi ile değerlendirilmesidir. Öncelikle Adana’nın sağlık göstergeleri ve sağlık alt yapısı incelenmiş, ardından SWOT analizi aşamasına geçilmiştir. Adana ilinin sağlık turizminde güçlü yönlerinin zayıf yönlerinden, fırsatlarının ise tehditlerinden daha fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kapsamlı sağlık hizmetlerini yüksek teknoloji ile sunan sağlık tesisleriyle güçlü bir noktada bulunan Adana, genel turizm ile sağlık turizminin entegrasyonu noktasında zayıf kalmaktadır. Bununla beraber Adana ili ve çevresinde yirmi milyondan fazla bir popülasyona hitap etmesi, inanç turizmi imkânları ile önemli fırsatlar barındırmaktadır. Öte yandan tanıtım eksikliği, güçlü iller ile rekabet edilmesi, Suriye’deki problemler ve sınır kapılarının kapalı olması gibi unsurlar da tehditler arasındadır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre Adana ilinin sağlık turizmi noktasındaki konumunu ileriye taşıyabilmesi için bir takım önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
Health tourism is an area that has been focused on importance over the last century and is increasingly developing. Health tourism is defined as a person going to another country to get health care and spending at least twenty-four hours there. The aim of this study is to evaluate health tourism in Turkey with the SWOT analysis of the Adana province, which is located within the first ten years in health tourism. First, Adana’s health indicators and health substructure were studied, then it was passed to the SWOT analysis stage. Adana is found to have strong aspects in health tourism from the weak aspects, and its opportunities are greater than threats. Adana is in a strong point with health facilities offering comprehensive health services with high technology, remains weak in the integration point of general tourism and health tourism. However, addressing more than twenty million people in the Adana region and its surroundings provides important opportunities with the possibilities of religious tourism. On the other hand, the lack of advertising, the competition with the strong states, the problems in Syria and the closure of border doors are also among threats. According to the results of the analysis, a number of recommendations have been made to move the position of the Adana province in the health tourism point forward.

Health tourism is defined as a person traveling to another country to receive health services and spending at least twenty-four hours there. The aim of this study is to analyze Adana, which is among the top ten provinces in health tourism in Turkey with SWOT analysis. Firstly, Adana's health indicators and health infrastructure were examined, then SWOT analysis was conducted. It is determined that the strengths of Adana in health tourism are more than weaknesses and opportunities are more than threats. Adana, which is at a strong point with its health facilities offering comprehensive health services with high technology, remains weak in the integration of general tourism and health tourism. Adana has important opportunities such as offering health services for more than twenty million and faith tourism options. On the other hand, factors such as lack of marketing, competing with strong provinces, problems in Syria and closed border gates are among the threats. According to the results of the analysis, a number of suggestions were made in order for Adana to move its position in the field of health tourism forward.
