Abstract:

When we consider art as a tool through which we directly and indirectly reflect our experiences in life, there are radical changes in its methods and perceptions with the effect of changing social structures. The innovations of contemporary life have made their presence felt intensely in every field of art. As a result of this change, the concepts needed different meanings and definitions and the definition area expanded. One of these concepts is isolation. When isolation is considered in terms of interpretation in the 21st century, it has found its place in art with different forms of expression. As it is the result of wars, epidemics and regimes, it is closely related to the concepts of social isolation, exclusion and alienation when it comes to detail. With the interpretation forms of contemporary art, it has gained versatile expression possibilities. In this respect, the concepts of "restricted space" and "modern slavery" are handled in the focus of the image of isolation and tried to be explained with examples from different disciplines of contemporary art, and the differences between the changing image of isolation and contemporary social structures have been tried to be revealed.
