Fransız ihtilali ile ortaya çıkan ulusçuluk akımının etkisiyle imparatorluklar dağılma sürecine girmişti. Osmanlı İmparatorluğu da bu durumdan etkilenerek ayrılıkçı isyanlarla karşı karşıya kalmıştır. Balkan topraklarından başlayan ve Avrupa devletlerinin kışkırtmaları ile alevlenen bu isyanlar yeni devletlerin kurulması ile sonuçlanmıştır. Balkanlarda, oluşan bu olaylar sırasında Ermeniler teba-yı sadıka olarak ön plana çıkmışlardır. Ancak Osmanlı İmparatorluğunu parçalamaya yönelik emperyalist siyaset bir müddet sonra Ermenilere yönelmiştir. Teba-yı sadıka olarak adlandırılan Ermeniler batılı devletlerin kışkırtmaları ve destekleri ile İmparatorluktan ayrılıp kendi devletlerini kurmak amacıyla isyan hareketlerine girişmişlerdir. 19. yüzyılın sonlarında başlayan ve 20. yüzyılın ilk çeyreğine kadar devam eden bu isyanlar sırasında her iki ulustan da pek çok kayıp verilmiştir. Bu süreç içinde isyanları kışkırtmakla kalmayan batılı devletler bununla yetinmemişler ve isyanlar sırasında hayatını kaybeden Ermenilerin yetim kalan çocukları üzerine oyunlarını devam ettirmişlerdir. Bunun sonucunda da yetimlerin daha çok zarar görmesine neden olmuşlardır. Misyon kuruluşları tarafından bu çocuklar, yurtlarından, tanıdıkları insanlardan, akraba ve arkadaşlarından uzaklaştırılmışlardır. Kendi kurdukları yetimhane ve okullarda bu çocukları kendi amaçları doğrultusunda milliyetçilik, özgürlük, komitacılık gibi kavramları benimsetmeye çalışmışlardır. Bu durumda sadece Ermeni aileleri değil yetim kalan çocukları da batılı devletler tarafından kullanılmıştır diyebiliriz. Ermeni yetimleri küçük gruplar halinde oradan oraya sürüklenmişlerdir. Osmanlı yönetimi ise bu durumu gücü oranında engellemeye, çocuklara sahip çıkmaya çalışmıştır. Bu çalışmada Ermeni isyanları sonucu yetim kalan Ermeni çocuklarının yurtlarından koparılarak nasıl örselendikleri ve emperyalist amaçlarla nasıl kullanılmak istendikleri incelenmiştir.
With the effect of the nationalism movement that emerged with the French Revolution, the empires entered the process of disintegration. The Ottoman Empire was also affected by this situation and faced separatist rebellions. These rebellions, which started from the Balkan lands and flared up with the provocations of the European states, resulted in the establishment of new states. During these successive events in the Balkans, Armenians came to the fore as “Teba-yı sadıka” (loyal subjects). However, the imperialist policy to break up the Ottoman Empire turned towards the Armenians after a while. The Armenians, who were called “Teba-yı sadıka” (loyal subjects), started successive rebellions in order to leave the Empire and establish their own state with the provocation and support of the western states. During these revolts, which started at the end of the 19th century and continued until the first quarter of the 20th century, many casualties were lost from both nations. During this process, the western states, not only provoking the revolts, were not content with this and continued their games on the orphaned children of the Armenians who lost their lives during the riots. As a result, they caused more harm to orphans. These children were removed from their homes, people they knew, relatives and friends by mission organizations. They tried to make these children adopt concepts such as nationalism, freedom, and committee in line with their own goals in the orphanages and schools they established. In this case, we can say that not only Armenian families but also orphaned children were used by western states. Armenian orphans were dragged from place to place in small groups. The Ottoman administration, on the other hand, tried to prevent this situation according to its power and to protect the children. In this study, it has been examined how the Armenian children who were orphaned as a result of the Armenian rebellions were taken from their homes and abused and how they were wanted to be used for imperialist purposes.
