As a result of the changing security phenomenon, water security has become one of the most important security elements of our time due to the decreasing water resources, pollution and the rapid increase in the world population. The fact that water has an indispensable feature in terms of human life, environmental sustainability and development makes water a component of sharing on international and local scale. As nations can occupy water resources physically, water is perceived as a commercial commodity, which can be seen as a source of economic gain by global companies. Water is indirectly located at the focal point of food, economic and environmental safety. The geography, where Turkey is located in, is already a region where physical and economic water scarcity is experienced and it is foreseen that the phenomenon of scarcity will deepen and deepen in the future. Developments that may threaten the local water security are emerging in Turkey whose surroundings has started to experience more water related conflicts. In this study, the water security issues within Turkey's borders will be examined in terms of the quantity, quality, accessibility, management and negative factors affecting the local water security will be analyzed.
