Global climate change, water security, food crises, and the increase in natural disasters threaten the economic, ecological, and social sustainability of societies. Incorrect climate and water policies of governments create a risk area for the overall ecosystem, exceeding the national borders. Environment, climate, and water policies of countries differ from each other. This study limited the study area to Turkey. Local governments in Turkey also carry out active studies on climate and water policy issues. Metropolitan, provincial and district municipalities prepare local climate action plans, include water policies in their strategic plans, general directorate of water and sewerage prepare strategic plans, and municipalities establish climate directorates. The aim of this study is to examine the climate and water policies developed by local governments in Turkey. In the study, comparisons and evaluations were made between the climate and water policies of metropolitan municipalities by using the document analysis method.
