In 1798 lithography which emerged with the invention of the different printing technique for poster art, with its own progress was leaded various subjects’ displaying. After that time, its process carries towards the development of new and saving printing techniques. In the first samples of that posters, artists prefer to make some designs a significant majority of “dance” theme. From lithography to 1980s, the postmodernist trends and the introduction of the computer directly influenced the design of all production processes, has triggered the rise of subjective styles. From 1789 to 2000s, from 350 selected 22 art pieces which are expressive design history ideally, designed by poster artists of various countries, grouped and examined. This study initialized France which is first country using lithography, move forward to world’s important design styles and visual languages. In this sense, examined artists were; Jules Cheret, Toulouse Lautrec, Alphonse Mucha, Leonetto Capiello, Kate Sampson, Armin Hofmann, Gülümser Aral Üretmen and some anonym works from USA, England, Austria, Scotland, Germany, Italy and Turkey. These artist’s poster works’ leading role created an importance in the entertainment culture of the world. These selected art pieces are significant examples of contemporary art in graphic design. From this point of view, the aim of this research is; crucial events and how these social and cultural changes reflected various poster design styles of the world, were investigated and analyzed. Research includes a new perspective of poster researches of graphic design on the subject of “dance” theme.
