In this study, it has been tried to examine if critical reading education has an effect on level to use metacognitive reading strategies, and media literacy levels of candidates for primary school teaching. Study has been conducted on 50 candidates for primary school teaching who have had education in 3rd grade of Primary School Teaching Department in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years. “Metacognitive Reading Strategies Questionnaire” and “Scale of Media and Television Literacy Levels” have been used as data collection tools. In the study, covariance analysis has been made on quantitative data and significance level has been taken as p< .05 the analyses. In the study, when it is checked pretest points obtained by scales of metacognitive reading strategies and media literacy levels, a significant difference has been determined in favor of experiment group, between the experiment group and control group, in terms of post test point averages
