This study aims at determining the effects of alternative assessment and evaluation methods on academic achievement in mathematics, persistence of learning, self-efficacy perception and attitude. The present study used quasi-experimental design as a quantitative research model. The study group of the research was comprised of 4 groups of fifth grade students from state primary schools in Çanakkale. To collect data, the study made use of questionnaires which were developed by the researcher. The results indicate that alternative assessment and evaluation methods positively increased fifth grade students' math-related academic achievement, self-efficacy levels, attitudes and persistence of their learning when compared to traditional assessment and evaluation methods.
