Abstract enThe purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of cooperative learning and traditional teaching methods on studentsâ attitudes and achievement to systematic of seed plants laboratory course. The study was carried out on 24 students attending the course, in Dicle University Education Faculty department of Biology education; in 2007-2008 academic year, spring season. The pretest-posttest research design with control group has been used in the study. While traditional teaching methods were used in the control group, student teams achievement divisions cooperative learning technique was used in the experimental group. The analysis of the data was made by t-test techniques. According to the results of the analysis, cooperative learning method was more effective than traditional learning. There was no significant difference between experimental and control groups with respect to studentsâ attitudes towards the course.
