The purpose of this study is to examine graduate students' expectations from an effective thesis advisor. They were all from Gazi University Educational Sciences Institute Department of Educational Sciences Division of Educational Administration and Supervision. A semi-structured interview form developed by researchers based on the conceptual framework to achieve as detailed data as possible was used to gather data. Results indicated that students expect their theses advisors to be more sensitive to their interests and expectations, direct them to the relevant and current resources, suggest proper methods and techniques, lead them in data analysis process, encourage them to publish their theses, make them use of different communication channels, support their visions, and face them with difficulties under three categories as research process, communication, and mentoring.
