This study was conducted to examine the perceptions of the teachers who work in primary schools, according to their various occupational characteristics, about the cultural leadership behaviours of their principals and to make suggestions based on the findings obtained from the study. The research instrument was conducted on 307 teachers working at the primary schools in Konak, Buca, Karşıyaka and Bornova in İzmir. One way variance analysis, t Test and Scheffé Test were were used to analyze the data. According to teachers' perceptions, the cultural leadership behaviours of the school principals are on the “avarage” level. The perceptions of the teachers about the cultural leadership behaviours of their principals do not vary significantly according to their gender, their being, tenure or not, whether they graduated from a teacher-training school or not, the level of the school they graduated from and the socio-economic environment of the school where they work. The teachers of language and literature have perceived the cultural leadership behaviours of their principals significantly higher in comparison with the perceptions of the primary school teachers
