Transportation policy has a great importance for improving economic efficiency and productivity. The main aim of the European Union common transport policy is to ensure free circulation of economic factors in the single market of the EU and to increase welfare. The EU member states, which have shown a systematic progress towards establishing a common transportation policy, exemplify on the one hand with the policies they have set and implement, while also struggling with some transportation problems. The success and problems in the field of transportation are affecting directly or indirectly other sectors. In this study, the common transportation policy and transportation systems of the EU from the Treaty of Rome in 1957 till today will be mentioned, the transportation policies and transportation systems which has been emphasized especially in recent years in Turkey will be examined and lastly the situation of Turkey against the EU Common Transportation Policy will be discussed in the context of EU Progress Reports and other documents.
